Ms. Purdy joined EdiPhy Advisors as its Chief Development Officer in
2007. Prior to joining EdiPhy Advisors she was the Executive Vice
President and Chief Financial Officer of St. Vincent’s Health System in
Birmingham, Alabama. Ms. Purdy received her Bachelor of Science degree,
with high honors, in Accounting from Auburn University. At Auburn, she
was one of two recipients of the Algernon Sydney Sullivan Award which
honors excellence of character and overall contributions to the
university. She is a Certified Public Accountant (retired) and worked in public
accounting prior to joining St. Vincent’s. Over the twenty-six years
that she was with St. Vincent’s, she held various positions of
increasing responsibilities. From 1999 until she left in 2007 she also
served as St. Vincent’s Health System’s Corporate Compliance Officer. At EdiPhy Advisors, Ms. Purdy uses the knowledge she learned over the
years and brings a hospital’s perspective to the services that EdiPhy
Advisors provides. She is active in her community serving on Lakeshore
Foundation’s board and in leadership positions in her church.
Ms. Ragsdale serves as the Chief Executive Officer for EdiPhy
Advisors, a company she co-founded in 1995. Joan is a Phi Beta Kappa
graduate of the University of Alabama where she received her Bachelor of
Arts degree, magna cum laude. She received her law degree from the
University of Alabama where she was an editor of the Alabama Law Review
and was on the National Moot Court team. Prior to founding EdiPhy
Advisors, she practiced law in Birmingham. She was a partner with Sirote
& Permutt and later, Bradley, Arant, Rose & White where she
served as Chair of the Healthcare Group.
She is a past-President of the Health Law Section of the Alabama
Bar, was previously selected for inclusion in the Best Lawyers in
America, as one of the Birmingham Business Journal’s “Top Ten Business
Women in Birmingham” and as a Birmingham Health Care Hero. Joan is a
frequent speaker and author on current health care regulatory and
compliance issues. She is a board member of the Jefferson County Medical
Foundation Trust, the UAB Callahan Eye Foundation, Inc. board, and a
member of the University of Alabama at Birmingham Medical Leadership
Committee.
Dr. Patterson is an internist with Mayfair Internal Medicine, LLC in
Birmingham, Alabama. He attended the Georgia Institute of Technology
and received his Medical degree from the University of South Alabama. He
completed his residency at the University of Alabama in Birmingham
where he served as Chief Resident & Instructor in Medicine.
In July 2009, Dr. Patterson received the honor of being inducted as a
Fellow in the American College of Physicians. Dr. Patterson is Board
Certified in internal medicine and is on the Medical Staff of St.
Vincent’s Birmingham. Dr. Patterson has been in private practice for
over 22 years. He is a founding owner of EdiPhy Advisors and serves as
Chair of the Board of Managers and Medical Director.
